Building Healthy Families: Healthy families get enough sleep. How much is enough? Children 5 through 11 need 10 hours of sleep each night, teenagers need 8 to 9 hours. Not getting enough sleep or poor quality sleep leads to problems in physical, emotional and psychological heath, and even contributes to problems in family relationships.
